Where did I see that hare?

To find the grid reference at any point on the map, just click on it. You can use the 'town' drop down list to move the map the roughly the right area first. (The closer you zoom in, the more accurate the grid reference will be.)

You can also locate any grid square or grid reference by entering it in the box below and then clicking the 'Locate' button. You can enter any form of grid reference, e.g. SD50Y, SD5806, SD587062.

Grid Ref:

You can pan/zoom the map by using the controls in the top left of the map. You can also pan simply by dragging the map. Use the view buttons in the top right of the map to change between satellite, map and hybrid views.

When you send us a record, use the most detailed grid reference that you can. We can accept 2km square (tetrad), 1km square or six figure grid references. Six figure grid references are best.

You also can read a six figure grid reference from any Ordnance Survey map if you would prefer to do it that way. If you are unsure of how to do this, why not look at these instructions for reading grid references produced by Merseyside BioBank (the Local Biological Records Centre for Meresyside).

If you can't work out the grid reference, but you know the postcode, then we can accept that (but your records are more useful if they have a grid reference).
